| 2009- ROGUE VALLEY ARCHERS HISTORY 2009, the fifth year of our club, started with some of the same executive officers being re-elected for a second term. The second term is usually easier for officers. The first term is a learning process in many instances. Some of the “To do items” our club discussed for 2009 were:: 1. Completing our 7th range. (Sportsman’s or Extreme) names proposed for this range. 2. Making the Traditional Shoot event successful. 3. Purchasing an enclosed trailer for storing and moving targets for Invitational events. 4. Increasing the size of the Archery shed. 5. Investing in more 3D targets. 6. Updating and expanding our website. 7. Soliciting new younger members. 8. More outreach to the community. 9. By January, folks are happy to start shooting again, even if it is indoors. We had 10 new 3D animal targets delivered from the manufacturer. These targets were part of the group of targets named “Denny’s Herd”. These targets were purchased for club shoot use as they were light weight and easily moved. We were able to complete our 7th range aptly named the “Extreme Range”. It was well received and enjoyed by many archers. They enjoyed the challenges this 10 target course provided. 2. We held our first Traditional Bow shoot, it was not a huge success however, we plan to continue offering this event for those Traditional Bow shooters in our club and our community both. 3. We have not purchased an enclosed trailer, for storing 3D animal targets, so far. We have enjoyed much discussion about our plan and we welcome more input. We have considered building an enclosed shed on the range for storage of the 3D animal targets. The decision has been shelved for the time being. 4. We shelved the idea to increase the size of our shed until next year. 5. We did invest in some new 3D animal targets and new bales for Range #4 and the Sight-in range, this year. 6. We continue to update and expand our website. 7. Soliciting younger members is a slow project. We have had a couple of younger families join this year. We are proud to report that we had 18 new family memberships this year. 8. We were able to help with community projects this year in October by supporting and providing Archery training for the “Boys Day Out” sponsored by Kiwanis and Coalition for Children. 9. This year we helped with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and helped to support Youth in the “Archery-in –School” organization by financial support. 10. We were able to complete the Fuel Reduction effort on all of our ranges. |
