Rogue Valley Archers
2010- ROGUE VALLEY ARCHERS HISTORY
2010, the sixth year of our club, started with a new group of executive officers but,
within a few weeks we had two officers step down . We quickly decided that we needed to regroup and solicit some
feedback from the membership. It was a good move.
JANUARY
We took our first ever survey and got some valuable feedback. This was helpful to the officers for their decision making
process. We recommend that this be an annual process.
We replaced the two Officer positions quickly, thanks to Forrest Denison and Heather Simpson that volunteered to fill the
Range Manager and Secretary functions.
Winter league started on 1/15 with a good participation of 27 shooters. We chose to change the rules this year making it
easier to participate. We allowed one make-up shoot and also allowed those competition shooters to use their scores, if
the scoring mirrored ours.
We had no club shoot this month due to low participation. “Football Season”.
We ordered six new Rinehart 3D animals.
FEBRUARY
Work party started early this year. We undertook a large project of building Rooftops for all of our target ranges. These
consisted of wood frames and a shingled rooftop for each of our 55 targets. This took considerable time and resources.
We are hopeful that this will extend the life of our bales and save us money in the long run.
On 2/21 we held the “Foul Weather Event” 120 shooters participated. The weather was cool but dry. We were happy to
have 12 NAIS ( National Archery in School) kids come to our event. It is encouraging to see the interest in our sport by the
youth in our community. We were able to enroll 19 new members in the OBH (Oregon BowHunters) organization. We
support this group by discounting our invitational fee by $1.00 for each OBH member.
